Possible outcomes
What happens after your appointment?
There are six possible outcomes. Each one is normal. Advice and monitoring often come first. If you need an in-person exam, you'll be referred.
- General advice and guidance
- Pathology or further investigation
- Referral to a dermatologist
- Scheduled monitoring and review
- Treatment, if deemed medically appropriate
- No treatment
Your practitioner explains which one fits you and why.
What we can't
do remotely
- Before you book
- These need an in-person visit.
- Moles and suspicious lesions
- Moles and suspicious spots need a dermatoscope, in person. Your practitioner will refer you.
- A rash with a fever
- A rash with a fever, a spreading infection or a wound that won't close needs in-person care, often within a day.
- Anything needing a biopsy
- A biopsy, freezing or removal happens in person. Your practitioner can refer you.
FAQ
Common questions
Ask anything else at your appointment.
Should I send photos?
Yes. Your practitioner explains how to send them securely. Some concerns still need an in-person look.
Does hair loss need blood tests?
Sometimes. Iron and thyroid results can matter. Hair loss can start months after a cause, so timing matters too.
How do I photograph the same spot each time?
Use the same light, distance and angle. Put something in the frame for scale.
