Cognitive health consultation

Talk about changes in focus, memory or mental energy.

Most changes in focus have everyday causes, like sleep or stress. We check those first.

Your assessment

What will my practitioner look at?

  1. When it started and if it's getting worse
  2. Your sleep, mood, anxiety and workload
  3. Alcohol and any medicine changes
  4. Whether others have noticed it too
  5. Any head knocks, even minor ones

Your appointment

What will we talk about?

  2. Which blood tests would help
  3. A few changes to your sleep and workload

Is this a mental health service?

No. If mood or anxiety plays a part, your practitioner will point you to your GP or a psychologist.

Will I be given something to take?

Often not. Sleep and workload changes usually come first. Treatment, if deemed medically appropriate, is one of six outcomes.

What does brain fog mean?

It describes how you feel. It isn't a diagnosis, but it helps your practitioner know where to start.
